What is BlancoMusic? Where do we start? The most obvious place is with the music. Our belief is that Music is Priceless. Everything else comes from that proviso. For the moment we represent Budnubac, Mil y Maria, Sub Machena and Piano Segundo. All of those acts feature the creative input of Robin Taylor-Firth, either as musician, composer or producer. If it's on BlancoMusic, he's had something to do with it. The savvy ones out there will recognize his name from the sleeves of their Nightmares on Wax albums, or from Olive (everyone remembers You're Not Alone). Like a lot of great musicians, he doesn't tie himself to a single genre or style, and although Nightmares will always be associated in the collective imagination with late-night chillouts, a quick listen to Budnubac's Pass me the Rum, or Mil y Maria's Eu Quero will leave you anything but chilled. You'll also hear plenty of percussionist Shovell (M-People, amongst many others), Sara Garvey (Nightmares on Wax) and Maria del Rocio Herrera Alonso (Mil i Maria). Together, they add a depth of experience to the music that becomes obvious as soon as you hear it.
BlancoMusic as an entity will evolve and adapt and mutate as time goes on, but for the moment the thing we can say about it for certain is that it will be an independent record label in the most genuine sense. If there is something that gets between us and our customer, and we can eliminate it, we will. We'll interact with our fans, create new ones, get out on the road to play for them, and pester them until they love our music as much as we do. And we'll do it with energy and bounce. Let's start with you. Welcome.
Two or three times now I've started this post, and deleted what I've written. Inaugural moments will do that to you. I am aware that from the moment this text goes onto the webpage, Blanco Music has started. That's my take, of course, as a cog in a machine that is greater than the sum of it's parts, but I don't claim to speak for more than myself here...
